The free event, which is produced by Ealing Council in partnership with Hounslow Council and supported by the Mayor of London, is one of Europe’s biggest celebrations of Asian culture and takes place in Gunnersbury Park from 1PM.
Highlights of the 2009 Mela will include classical-electronica artist Swati Natekar, known for her vocal performances on albums by Nitin Sawhney and Talvin Singh, who will perform Indian Classical music.
The main stage, which is supported by BBC Asian Network, will feature performances by B21, Outlandish, Amar featuring Jim Beans and Rebel, and Des-c.
Deputy Mayor Richard Barnes commented: “The festival is one of the cultural highlights this summer and celebrates the best of South Asian arts and culture for people of all backgrounds and ages. This is great free family day out for all Londoners and I encourage everyone to join me at Gunnersbury Park this Sunday.”
