Barnbrook to sit on Assembly as Independent member

August 16, 2010 by Staff

London Assembly Member Richard Barnbrook is to sit on the Assembly as an Independent member after resigning the BNP whip.

Mr Barnbrook was elected as the BNP’s first Assembly Member at the 2008 Greater London Authority elections, having previously unsuccessfully stood in 2004.

In 2008 he also stood as the party’s Mayoral candidate securing just under 70,000 first preference votes and at this year’s local government election lost his seat on Barking and Dagenham council.

The london.gov.uk website has been updated to reflect Mr Barnbrook’s new status as an Independent member.
