Bus users in London are being promised more ways to access information on routes and bus arrivals after Transport for London awarded three contracts to develop mobile and web-based information, as well as oversee the roll out of new Countdown signs.
Wartime fire auxiliaries remembered
The London Fire Brigade is today marking the 70th Anniversary of the Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) which helped fight fires caused by German bombing raids. Mobilised at the outbreak of World War Two, the AFS continued to operate during the cold war before being disbanded in 1968.
