Assembly Demands Venezuela Trip Costs

The London Assembly has demanded a report on the full costs of Mayor Livingstone’s visit to Cuba and his aborted trip to Venezuela.

Assembly Members unanimously backed a motion proposed by Angie Bray AM calling on the Chief Executive of the Greater London Authority to provide details of the costs incurred by all members of the Mayoral party including airfares, hotel bills and subsistence expenses. no later than Monday 13 November.

Members also supported an amendment by John Biggs AM calling upon the Mayor to report the outcomes from his visit.

Assembly Chairman Brian Coleman said: “London taxpayers have every right to know how much the Mayor’s flying visit to Cuba and his well staffed but aborted trip to Venezuela have hit them in the pocket.

Assembly Members will want to use this information, and details of what the Mayor believes the visit achieved, to question Mr Livingstone at Mayor’s Question time next Wednesday.”
