Assembly appoints Sally Hamwee as Chair

The London Assembly have appointed Baroness Sally Hamwee AM for her third term as Chair of the London Assembly. Convservative member Brian Coleman was appointed as Deputy Chairman.

Members were also appointed as Chairs of the following Assembly committees:

Brian Coleman AM – Audit and Inspection Committee
Peter Hulme Cross – Audit Panel
Sally Hamwee AM – Budget Committee
Sally Hamwee AM – Budget Monitoring Sub-Committee
Brian Coleman AM – Business Management and Appointments Committee
Dee Doocey AM – Economic Development, Culture, Sport and Tourism Committee
Brian Coleman AM – Elections Review Committee
Darren Johnson AM – Environment Committee
Joanne McCartney AM – Health and Public Services Committee
Tony Arbour AM – Planning and Spatial Development Committee
Roger Evans AM – Transport Committee

Baroness Hamwee said: "The Assembly will continue to hold the Mayor to account and investigate issues of concern to Londoners. I hope that we will work together as a cohesive group, despite our political differences but contributing our different points of view. We will have big issues to deal with: the outcome of London’s Olympics bid, funding London government (the government’s review of local government finance is due to publish in the autumn), and London resilience – defending London against terrorism and other events."
