AMs ask transport chiefs to report on snow disruption

February 7, 2012 by Staff

Rail and Tube services were affected by the snow
The London Assembly has asked Transport for London and train operating companies to report on their performance during the weekend’s snow.

Adverse weather caused disruption to London Overground, Tube and network rail services, delaying passengers and forcing some to abandon travel plans.

Assembly Members on the Transport Committee have asked for details of any weather related disruptions on Saturday 4th, Sunday 5th and Monday 6th February and how well contingency plans worked.

Committee Chair Caroline Pidgeon AM, said: “We know TfL and the train operating companies worked hard to prepare for the snow and to keep services running over the weekend, but there was still some disruption for passengers.

“Having done extensive work on how the transport network copes in bad weather we now want to know what plans were put in place and how well they worked – or didn’t work.

“By looking at the lessons that can be learned from the weekend, transport operators can continue to improve their preparations and the way they communicate any problems to passengers the next time it snows in London.”
