Ambulance Service appoints former Livingstone aide to Board

September 20, 2011 - Staff

A former advisor to Ken Livingstone during his term at City Hall has been appointed as a non-executive director of the London Ambulance Service.

The service’s non-executive directors sit on the board alongside a non-executive chairman, five executive and six non-executive directors and have an overall accountability for its strategic direction and performance.

Murziline Parchment, currently head of office for Tower Hamlets Mayor Lutfur Rahman, will serve until 31 March 2013. She will earn £6,096 per annum for her work.

Parchment said: “As a Londoner I am thrilled with this appointment and delighted to be able to use my legal background and regional government experience to contribute to the valuable work of the ambulance service.”

Richard Hunt, Chairman of the London Ambulance Service, said: “I am delighted with Murziline Parchment’s appointment.

“She has tremendous experience working with various public bodies in London and having trained as a legal professional, she will bring both experience and a new dimension to the board.”
