After the vote: Let’s come together to make a fair Brexit deal

After the vote to leave the EU, I hope I can help make any Brexit deal fairer for Londoners of all nationalities.

It’s only been a couple of days since the vote but we are already in uncertain times. Many of us are worried about the future, not least the EU citizens in London who didn’t have a say in the referendum, many of whom spoke to me about their concerns during the campaign.

London as a whole voted emphatically to stay in the EU, and our national leaders seem very uncertain about what will happen next and who will be in charge of doing it.

But whoever takes the helm in Government, I hope that in London all parties will come together and make the case for a fair Brexit deal for everyone, with the rights of workers safeguarded, protection for the environment and a continued safe and welcoming home for migrants and EU citizens in our city.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has already said London needs a seat at the negotiating table with Brussels and, on the London Assembly, I’ll be working with him and other parties to make sure we speak up for all our citizens during this process.

Please get in touch with me if you have any concerns about what happens next or any questions I can put to the Mayor.
