Tests for new 4G mobile services could caused Freeview viewers in parts of South East London to experience a loss of channels.
4G offers speeds of around five times faster than current 3G technology, allowing greater use of the internet while travelling or working away from home.
The new services will operate on the 800 MHz frequency, close to the frequencies used to broadcast some Freeview services.
The tests are being overseen by at800, a new body set up by the UK’s mobile networks to assess the impact the new high-speed 4G mobile data services will have on TV signals.
at800 says up tp 170,000 homes in parts of Greenwich, Lewisham, Southwark and Tower Hamlets could be affected by the trials which start on Monday.
Viewers who experience reception problems are asked to contact at800 by calling 0333 31 31 800. The body says it will have a team of aerial installers in the area who will visit affected homes and restore their Freeview reception.
