A lack of affordable housing and spiraling property prices have overtaken crime and safety as Londoners’ top priorities according to the latest Annual London Survey.
Environmental issues also feature high with 72 per cent of Londoners saying pollution from traffic is affecting the quality of London’s environment. The survey is carried out by Ipsos MORI and commissioned by the Greater London Authority.
Commenting on the survey’s findings Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone said: “half of Londoners are concerned about the level of affordable housing in the capital.
Tackling this problem is a key priority and the Government’s decision to give me new powers in relation to housing and planning will help to accelerate the delivery of more affordable homes across London.”
The survey also suggests a deep rooted sense of pride in the capital with 78 per cent of those surveyed agreeing with the statement ‘London is a place I identify with’.
