Tories Attack TfL Move

May 9, 2006 - Staff

Roger Evans, London Assembly Conservative Transport Spokesman, has criticised plans for Transport for London to lease 300,000 square feet of the new ‘Shard of Glass’ tower.

The Mayor announced the decision earlier today at his regular press conference.

The Tories have accused Mr Livingstone of “using taxpayers money to support a development that would not otherwise be commercially viable.”

Commenting on the news Mr Evans said “if the Shard of Glass cannot survive by attracting commercial tenants then it will stand as a monument of political folly” predicting that “Londoners are going to be furious to see Transport for London moving to swanky new offices in Zone One.”
