Olympic ticket site re-opens after complaints

January 17, 2012 - Martin Hoscik@MayorWatch

The resale website for unwanted Olympic tickets has reopened after being suspended 11 days ago.

The London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) was forced to suspend the site earlier this month after complaints about performance and reliability problems.

Commercial Director Chris Townsend said LOCOG “are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the suspension of our ticketing resale platform.”

Tickets offered between now and 3rd February will be purchased directly by LOCOG at face value, they will then be re-offered to the public.

Townsend said: “Every ticket we purchase from the public will be offered back to the public from April.

“We believe this system – purchasing the tickets back from customers now, and offering them again from April, will result in a better customer experience for everyone.”

London Assembly member John Biggs, who represents the Olympic area, said: “This has been a bit of a PR disaster for LOCOG and I have asked them to provide the details of what went wrong.
