Mayor and Train Operations Reach Oyster Agreement

January 31, 2007 - Staff

The Mayor of London and Train Operating Companies in the capital have reached an outline agreement to implement Oyster Pay-As-You-Go at mainline stations across Greater London.

Welcoming the development London Mayor Ken Livingstone said it was “a step in the right direction” but cautioned that “there is some way to go” before full agreement is reached.

Some companies are understood to have expressed reservations which are the subject of ongoing discussions with Transport for London.

Mr Livingstone said he hoped discussions would be concluded soon “so that that we are able to extend the benefits that Oyster offers to all London travellers as soon as possible.”
