Livingstone Art Auction Opens for Registration

March 3, 2008 by Staff

Registration is now open for an art auction in support of Ken Livingstone’s campaign to be re elected as Mayor of London.

Artists including Banksy, Billy Childish, Catherine Yass and Marc Quinn have all donated works for the auction which takes place at 7pm on Thursday 6 March, at The Aquarium Gallery.

Mr Livingstone said: “Many of the artists who are making London a world leader in the field of visual arts have made a practical contribution to keep London moving forward by contributing to this auction.

“The use of the prominent 4th plinth on Trafalgar Square for a programme of public art, which I am committed to retaining, is one example of how contemporary art can form part of our city’s cultural life.

“London’s artists are among our great assets and I am grateful for the support of so many of them to help in this election campaign.”
