Boris asks Govt for permission to equip Met with water cannon

Mayor Boris Johnson is lobbying the Government for permission to equip the Metropolitan Police with water cannon. The truck-based cannon are currently banned on the UK mainland and any purchase would have to be approved by Home Secretary Theresa May.
