Boris, the boroughs and the ‘city charter’
As someone who has spent much of the 9 years since London Government was restored calling for greater power I’ll welcome anyone prepared to sign up the cause but today’s ‘city charter’ is pretty lightweight and lacks much in the way of vision and, though I’ve tried really hard, I just don’t get Boris’s fascination with coysing up to borough politicians.

MayorWatch editor Martin Hoscik on the spat over police accountability in London, the stalled debate on London’s devolutionary settlement and the dangers of GLA abolition from a ‘do less’ mindset.
