Boris announces further staff changes

Boris Johnson has announced changes to his staff which he says will “strengthen” his administration in the build up to next year’s Mayoral elections. The changes see transport advisor Kulveer Ranger promoted to Director of Environment while the Mayor’s environment advisor Isabel Dedring moves to the newly created post of ‘deputy mayor for Transport’.

London’s drivers risk incurring fines because of a lack of public awareness about special ‘Games lanes’ which will operate during the 2012 Olympics, reserving major routes exclusively for those connected with the Games.

Boris Johnson announces new Chief of Staff

Wandsworth council leader Edward Lister has been named as Boris Johnson’s new Chief of Staff and planning advisor following last week’s news of Sir Simon Milton’s death. Mr Lister, who has been leader of Wandsworth since 1992, will have responsibility for the Mayor’s budgets and will oversee City Hall’s relationships with London’s boroughs.

Cable car contractors appointed as TfL seeks funding

Plans for a new cable car linking the Greenwich Peninsula wit the Royal Victoria Docks and the ExCeL centre took a major step forward today with the announcement that work on the scheme will start “this summer”.

European Commission – continent not responsible for London’s air pollution

A European Commission spokesman has disputed claims by Boris Johnson that airborne pollution originating on the continent is responsible for “75 per cent” of incidents of London breaching EU pollution targets.
