Closures announced for Hammersmith and Albert bridges

January 25, 2010 - Staff

Motorists whose journeys take them across the Thames are being warned of possible delays caused by a series of bridge closures over the coming weeks and months.

Hammersmith Bridge is to be closed to all vehicle traffic from 5am on Saturday until Monday mornings each weekend until Monday, March 15 and the bridge will also be closed throughout the school half term break between Saturday, February 13 and Monday, February 22.

Work is also being carried out to Albert Bridge which will result in the bridge being closed to all vehicle traffic on Monday, February 15 for an 18 month period. As a result traffic is to be diverted across Chelsea and Battersea bridges.

Both bridges will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists, although riders crossing Albert Bridge will be expected to dismount.
