Boris Sets Out Four Point Plan for Crime Victims

Boris Johnson, Conservative Candidate for Mayor of London, has launched a four-point plan to help the victims of crime.

Speaking earlier today Mr Johnson said that tackling crime was only part of  the problem facing London and that more needed to be done “to help victims of crime in the Capital.”

If elected next month Johnson said he would “tackle crime head-on but when someone is a victim of crime, they should be helped in every way possible.”

“My four point plan aims to improve the performance of the police in their victim support duties, and to provide more support to voluntary organisations.”

Mr Johnson said his four steps are:

1. I will use my influence as Chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority to ensure that the quality of support given to victims of crime is kept high.”

2.    “I will use my influence as Chair of the MPA to ensure that satisfaction rates are dramatically improved, and that confidence in the police increases.”

3.    “I will work with the Commissioner and Borough Commanders to ensure that more resources are committed to victim support mentor projects.”

4.    “I will work with charities such as Victim Support and Youth Justice Support Board to encourage the greater use of restorative justice schemes.”
