With shops and hospitality venues reopening and the approaching Christmas season, passenger numbers are expected to increase across the network.

Ministers have agreed further funding following warnings that previously agreed packages of help will no longer be sufficient to complete the project.

The plan will run alongside his existing 2016-23 affordable homes programme which is being extended by one year due to the pandemic.

The funding has been allocated to ‘green’ projects which will help create up to 1,000 new jobs while cleaning up the capital’s air.

Sadiq Khan’s office say proceeding with the move will act as a catalyst” for the regeneration of Royal Docks.
