New report suggests Mayor should gain power to compulsorily purchase land to avoid developments being delayed

A new report commissioned by City Hall has called for the Mayor and local councils to be given greater powers to ensure land is used to build new homes, including more scope to compulsorily purchase land where developments are at risk of delay.

Half of all London’s pay as you go Tube journeys are now contactless

First launched in 2012 on buses and extended to Tube and rail services in Summer 2014, contactless allows commuters to travel using debit and credit cards as well as virtual wallet services such as Apple Pay which now account for around one in eight contactless journeys.
