About time! I have been waiting ages for this, as it will mean much nicer and faster journeys by train than tube, and also help to alleviate congestion along many routes.

It will also help to boost many non-zone-1 areas in London, which will become more accessible.

"The card can also be used on Thames Clipper services from today. A single journey costs £5.30 however Oyster pay as you go holders will pay £4.77. Passengers with a Travelcard on their Oyster will pay just £3.55."

=> Where is the revolution! I already pay 3.55 with my monthly travelcard... nothing changed. I hope one day, I can use my oyster card on the thames clipper without extra fee...

....and the incentive to travel by Thames Clipper is......?

I am glad the change is finally here - it's been a long time coming, it's ridiculous that there hasn't been a joined up Oyster service across London.

Please take note of this line:
"However, people will need to check to make sure they are getting the cheapest ticket possible"

As BorisWatch has been investigating.....it's not clear cut about the cheapest fares by any stretch of the imagination, it seems the rail journeys are far more expensive than the same distance by tube.

Why not? - well that's the difference between a privately run rail netowork who's prime goal is profit - and a publicly run tube network where the focus is not profit orientated.
