Not only did Janet Worth have a through understanding of the workings of City Hall she was exactly the type of understanding individual you needed to bring together the varying different functions of the teams in corporate services. I seriously worry for the future of London Government with Boris and his clowns on the 8th floor!

The ousting of the gifted Janet Worth demonstrates that the old boys network is alive and well at City Hall,the honeymoon is over. Boris and his regime are showing their true colours.

It is very sad that Janet Worth has taken ‘early retirement’. Whoever believes that believes in the easter bunny too.

Without her to keep City Hall running on a day-to-day basis Boris is going to have a tough time keeping the good staff. I agree with those who wrote (here and on Dave Hills blog) that who evers decision it was to let Ms Worth leave should be fired.

If there was a real indication the BJ is not in control and or has failed to see the bigger picture it’s the removal of Janet Worth. I have to say that I found her to be first class professional at all times and she has a forensic knowledge of local government. Boris has made a huge mistake in forcing her out.

This slashes and burn random approach in cutting GLA budgets is tantamount to political and municipal vandalism.

Her loyalties are solely to the effective, efficient and legal running of the GLA . He will find she leaves a big hole that will be difficult to fill. A classic own goal.

This is a very foolish and totally misguided move by Boris’ team. Janet Worth may look like everyone’s favourite Aunty but looks are deceptive. Janet is very shrewd, a top class manager, and she knows how City Hall works. She also knows how to get the best out of people. She never seems to raise her voice or lose her cool but she doesn’t need to – she knows how to get things done. This is a retrograde step and whoever is responsible for it deserves to be sacked.

I happen to know that even members of the Tory group are up in arms about this sacking. Annoying though bureaucrats can sometimes be, this piece has it totally right. Boris’s team are busily shafting the system to make cosmetic savings without understanding what they are doing.
