I can't even begin to describe how great this album is! Jim isn't just a singer/songwriter...he's a poet and a genius!
Although Jim doesn't possess a rip-roaring voice like Meat Loaf's, he still manages to evoke that sense of epic, quasi-theatrical mayhem in 'Bad For Good' a hallmark common to his other major works:'Bat Out of Hell' 1 and 2.
Most of the songs on the album have also been recorded by Meat Loaf at some point in time, and its nice to here Jim's own unique take on the songs, particularly 'Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Fire' and 'Lost Boys and Golden Girls', which later featured in 'Bat Out of Hell II'.
Although the track listing on the Amazon website omits 'Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through', the copy that I recieved DID contain it, in between 'Stark Raving Love' and 'Out of the Frying Pan'.
I was particularly glad, as 'Rock and Roll Dreams' is one of my favourite Steinman songs.
Great for fans of Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman...it doesn't matter where you're going or wherever you've been, this album is definately Bad For Good!

This album is simply superb. Steinman delivers the songs so well, 'Bad for Good' is truly a top quality song, couple this with stunners like 'Surfs Up' and 'Stark Raving Love' its strange that Steinman only recorded 1 album himself and instead elected to write tracks for others to perform. 'Lost Boys and Golden Girls', 'Out of the Frying Pan', 'Rock and Roll Dreams' and 'Left in the Dark' have all been done by Meat loaf after this, and better i might add. But Steinman's 'Bad for Good' owns the Bat 3 version, and 'Surfs Up' beats the 1984 version by Meat loaf too. If you like Meat loafs stuff, you should definately give Bad for Good a go as you will most likely love it.

Bought this album yesterday and this album is great. This WAS intended as Meat Loaf's second album, the follow up to Bat out of Hell. The album was originally titled "Renegade Angel". However complications arose e.g. Meat Loaf losing his voice etc And because the record company were crying out for a follow up to Bat out of Hell, Jim Steinman decided to record these songs instead of Meat Loaf and write a new album for Meat Loaf titled "Dead Ringer".
Quite simply, this album IS AMAZING!

.....then you need to get this album, Bad for Good, by Jim Steinman. Having appreciated the sound and energy of Bat out of Hell, I was then introduced to this album. I (almost) never play Bat out of Hell any longer. This Jim Steinman album is the "real (rock and roll) deal". It's a pity Mr. Steinman doesn't record more. A class act. A class Rock and Roll album. A Highly recommended album. Hear the original version of some of Meat Loafs tracks from his Bat out of Hell 2 Album. It's a pity Jim Steinman doesn't release more of his music himself, rather than writing the songs. If you enjoy listening to Meat Loaf this album is highly recommended.
