I am shocked to think that the freedom pass may be cut. It enables me to get around in a way that I would not be able to afford without it. Indeed, it was the one good thing about reaching 60.

To me it is a health issue. If elderly people are not able to get out and about because of the cost of travel, they may well suffer mental health problems, physical problems from lack of exercise, and even become agoraphobic.

This Labour Government in which I had such high hopes, is letting us down yet again.

Just been reading the artical on cutting back the facilities on the Freedom Pass. After discussions in the office, please explain why it costs so much to provide £58million? We realise it has to be administered and maybe the buses incurr extra maintenance due to more people using them, but other expenses are incurred, bearing in mind the buses will still be running full or empty.

An answer would be appreciated. At the moment most of us do not qualify for a bus pass, but think it would be a great pity for this service to be cut or discontinued.

Regards
