Mayoral frontrunners Ken Livingstone and Boris Johnson have been campaigning across London today in an effort to win over as many voters as possible ahead of Thursday’s elections.
Mr Livingstone was in South London to launch a campaign poster which Labour hopes will encourage voters to opt for their man’s proven experience and negate Johnson’s ‘time for a change’ appeal.
Reading “Boris Johnson in charge of London’s £39 billion transport improvement Plans? Suddenly he’s not so funny” the poster is designed to undermine the attraction of a ‘new face’ at City Hall – a serious risk to Mr Livingstone’s hopes to secure a third term as Mayor.
Mr Johnson was also in South London where he visited an apprenticeship scheme operated by Pimlico Plumbers, speaking to the apprentices and touring the offices.
The scheme is said to be likely to receive financial support from Johnson’s planned Mayor’s Fund if he wins on Thursday.
During today’s visit Mr Johnson stressed his support for this and similar schemes.
This evening the pair will join Liberal Democrat candidate Brian Paddick for the Sky News Mayoral hustings.
