London visitor numbers up

The number of people visiting the capital’s tourist and cultural attractions including galleries and museums in April rose by 20% to 3.6 million, according to figures from Visit London. Warm weather and an increase in visitors from other European countries helped boost the figures.

The UK’s top ten most visited attractions of 2008 are all located in the capital according to figures published by the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions. Reporting a 10% increase in visitor numbers since 2007, the British Museum heads the list which also includes the Tate Modern and Tower of London.
