Boris announces £900,000 to tackle homelessness

The London Development Agency is to provide an additional £900,000 of funding to tackle homelessness in the capital. The funding will be used to pay for outreach teams who, from October this year, will work with homeless people in the capital to offer opportunities to gain skills and training.

As a fan of strong, bold government and someone who believes the Mayor has a role in providing essential services I applaud Boris for pushing ahead in the wake of opposition in his own ranks and, apparently, within the London Development Agency.
Assembly quizzes LDA bosses over additional land costs
The London Assembly will tomorrow quiz both the London Development Agency Chair and Chief Executive on the extra funds needed to secure land for the Olympic site. According to an independent report published by KPMG last week the cost of acquiring the land will be nearly £160 million higher than originally allowed for.
