New Lord Mayor of London elected

Nick Anstee has been elected as the 682nd Lord Mayor of the City of London and will commence his term of office from Friday 13 November (Lord Mayor’s Show and fireworks Saturday 14 November).

City Common Council election results

The City of London’s ward elections were held yesterday (16th March) with 128 candidates contesting 100 seats across the 25 Wards., however due to the number of candidates standing in each Ward, only 13 wards had contested elections.

City candidates list published

The final list of candidates contesting the City of London’s ward elections on March 16th has been published. Voters, which includes businesses as well as residents, will be electing 100 “Common Councilmen” that represent the City’s interests in the Court of Common Council – the main decision-making body of the City of London Corporation.

Labour to contest City Common Council elections

The Labour Party is hoping to have six candidates elected to the Common Council of the City of London, the body which makes decisions on issues which arise from the work of the City Corporation’s various committees. By tradition, members of the Common Council are independent and do not represent any political party.
