Lord Mayor invites Londoners to join his City Dip fundraiser

The Lord Mayor of London is inviting Londoners to join this year’s City Dip charity swim which is being held in support of Pitch Perfect, an initiative by the London Symphony Orchestra and Cricket Foundation to provide music and cricket opportunities to young Londoners in some of the capital’s less well off boroughs and communities.

New Govt grant to help disabled Londoners volunteer

Disabled Londoners are 9% less likely to volunteer than non-disabled Londoners account to figures published by the Government today. According to the Office of the Third Sector 27% of disabled adults undertook formal voluntary work during 2008 – 2009, compared to 36% of the general adult population.

Intergenerational centre opens in Merton

oris Johnson was in Merton this morning to open Britain’s first ‘intergenerational centre’ which will provide training and leisure facilities for people of all ages. The centre, which was funded by the London Development Agency, was first announced in February 2008 by former Mayor Ken Livingstone.

Volunteers needed to trial hidden disabilities assistance card

Transport for London is asking Londoners with hidden disabilities such as autism or hearing impairments to help trial a new Travel Support Card which can be shown to staff and other passengers in situations where disabled passengers require additional support and assistance.
