Community groups in the capital are being invited to apply for up to £15,000 of funding to take part in this year’s Lord Mayor’s Show.
The City of London Corporation will award three groups funding and the help of professional designers to produce eye-catching floats which will take part in the traditional parade.
The annual event, the largest of its kind in the world, dates back to 1215 and marks the formal ascendance to office of the new Lord Mayor, who is elected every year.
By tradition the new Lord Mayor is required to swear a pledge of allegiance to the Sovereign in front of the Lord Chief Justice and Judges of the Queen’s Bench Division.
Last year’s show included more than 6,000 participants, 63 floats, 23 marching bands and 18 carriages.

The deadline for applications is Thursday 31 March.
