Green Party Mayoral candidate Siân Berry has attacked Tory rival Boris Johnson after he voiced support for a new airport being built to the east of London.
The comments come after the pair appeared alongside their Labour and Lib Dem opponents in a newspaper advert opposing a third runway at Heathrow.
Ms Berry branded the suggestion: “the most ridiculous idea we’ve heard from the Johnson camp so far. Aviation is doing our city no favours at the moment. We need fewer airports in London, not more, for both economic and health reasons.”
“Again Johnson has shown that, while he is happy to object to aircraft approaching Heathrow disturbing his Oxfordshire home, he couldn’t care less about the effect of the airport lobby’s fantasies on working people here in London.”

She seems to spend a lot of her energy attacking Boris.
It is pretty weak to criticise him for being MP for Henley. He may well have a property there, but he has always lived full-time in London. Sian Berry was born and raised in Cheltenham.
Boris, as anyone who has taken a cursory interest in him will surely have realised, will never be anywhere near as interested in London as he is in himself.
I like to take heart from the fact that most of his supporters appear to be from the home counties, and therefore ineligble to vote in May.
