London Assembly Results 2008

First Published: Saturday 03 May 2008, 10:03

It’s all change on the London Assembly as the Conservatives increased their number of seats to eleven (up 2), the Liberal Democrats lost two and the One London party lost both of their seats.

Despite fears that they would loose their places on the Assembly the Greens kept both of their seats and the British National Party increased on their 2004 share of the vote to scoop a seat.

For the Conservatives the story wasn’t entirely positive with the loss of the Brent and Harrow constituency seat to Labour’s Navin Shah but the party held their remaining 8 seats and on a record turnout also took three of the London-wide seats.

There was obvious disappointment for the Liberal Democrats who not only failed to win either of their target constituency seats but also lost two of the London-wide seats they won in 2004 to end up with just three Assembly places.v

The BNP broke through the 5% barrier giving a seat to Mayoral candidate Richard Barnbrook.
