Good for starting out July 3, 2008 Nush G (London) I wasn't really into making alot of video's or anything, mainly because what came with the computer was so simple. This is a step up. It worked wonderfully. I'm not into reading manuals but picked this up pretty easily with some trial and error. The manual is easy to understand though. So my youtubing phase started and i've not looked back.
However, now I'm ready for something that offers a little more options. This is a simple program which meets basic needs for any home movie maker, but with youtube I want to experiment more creatively, such like Adobe premier elements offers (though I am worried about the crashing problem with that software).
So 4 stars for this great program, minus one for its simplicity.
I also wanted to add that it comed with music and sound editing software which was fabulous for my needs and loved playing aroung with it! I wish I had a better mic though.
Easy Media Creator Suite 10 - Why 5 stars? June 25, 2008 Mr. W. Halsall (Kent, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Looking at the reviews on Amazon the average was between 2 and 3. On closer examination they were mainly Ones or Fives. Having bought previous Sonic and Roxio material I could understand why. The CD and DVD copying facilities were spot on but converting old video tapes to DVD were a pain in the ass because it took years (well 8 hours at least!) to convert a normal video tape to DVD. Anything more than 15 minutes long also got out of sync (I presume because of my slow computer). Looking at the reviews of other similar software in the price range such as Nero and Adobe they both suffered from the same problems and the same 1 star or 5 star reviews. Therefore, I stopped trying to convert tapes to DVD and bought a DVD recorder that would do it in 6 minutes - sorry! - end of story!
However, what about slideshows with audio: or capturing audio from the internet; or doing short clips that you can personalise?
In each instance, this software is brilliant!!!
I had done a sequence of photos that I wanted to convert into a slideshow with music. The software that I already had would do this, but it was still a hit and miss affair trying to fully sync the photos with the music and I could not record it to DVD. However with Easy Media Creator within minutes I had done all that I wanted to do that I couldn't with my original software. The music length automatically fitted to the photos.
I accept that for anyone trying to create the next movie blockbuster the software may be a little inadequate or slow. I have a slow computer so I have learned patience. However, the software is spot on. Admittedly, it took an hour to install the software (hence a lot of the 1 star ratings).
But once this was done it performed admirably, bearing in mind that all I expect is: a decent slideshow creator; a first class CD and DVD copying facility; a decent piece of software that converts my .AVI movie files from my camera to DVD; and captures the audio from ANYTHING I am playing on my computer (which is an XP).
In all these respects Easy Media Creator 10 Suite easily fits the bill.
Flaky software June 15, 2008 J. B. Wylde (Bristol) I have previously used Videowave 9 with great success. I thought that Easy Media 10 would be a good update for Vista. Media 10 frequently hangs up and requires the Task Manager to terminate it. Video files created with Videowave 9 lose their music track (AC3) with Creator 10. Copying CD tracks to AC3 hang up. This version was not ready for release.
DO NOT BUY March 12, 2008 S. Alexander (London) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have the misfortune to own and have installed this software on my PC. Having been a fan of Roxio easy media creator 7.5, which I hasten to add has worked brilliantly, but unfortunately has some conflicts with Vista, so finally decided to upgrade BIG MISTAKE. This software will slow your whole pc down to a snails pace and prey ask where is an "uninstall" when you need it. Also now I am unable to go back to my 7.5 version unless I decide to go back to using XP. Definitely a big waste of money and the worst product I've had the misfortune to own. Roxio has definitely lost a fan and previously loyal customer. Surely software is supposed to improve not regress.
Good All Round Product March 9, 2008 Mr. P. J. Atkinson (London, England) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Well, I'm not getting any of the installation problems others are having and I find this to be a very good product.
When I upgraded to Vista about a year ago I found that most functions in Nero wouldn't work. For the past year I have therefore used a variety of standalone programs to deal with my media needs.
I've just installed EMC 10 with none of the problems other reviewers have had. If this is a concern I suggest you go to the Roxio website and download the program from there as there is a 30 day trial. If you like it come back to Amazon and buy it - it's cheaper here.
One of the issues some users may have is a lack of memory in their computers - especially if using Vista. I've just upgraded from 1Meg of RAM to 2 Meg and the difference is very significant. I used to have programs 'hang' or after a while the computer would slow down - no longer.
I use EMC10 for the following;
Copying DVDs (non copyright protected) Converting video - ie. DivX or AVI files to DVD DVD burning CD burning
The above functions EMC10 does very well and it means I can ditch my standalone programs. The interface is very well laid out and quite intuitive. What I've found is that there is often more than one way to achieve the same objective, so if you want to do something nice and simply you can do so but if you wish to have more control the functionality is there too.
I haven't fully explored all the other functions yet but they do look decent. I quite like the one where you tell it a music track and it finds you similar tracks - then you can burn a CD with that compilation.
One thing I would say however is that whilst there are programs on here for photos and video editing I wouldn't buy this for that. Buy a dedicated program instead, eg. Photoshop. That said if you just want to edit a few clips and then put it onto Youtube this is fine.
All in all I find this to be a very good product. I can now ditch half a dozen separate programs :)
