Ever since I purchased my Umax Scanner I have felt that the software provided may not have been the best availiable, probably because it was free, so when I saw this scanning suite at a bargain price I had to give it a try.
The program was easy to install and soon recognised my scanner and installed applications. The first thing that makes this program easy to use is the PAGIS INBOX.
This is a window just like 'My Documents' on your desktop. You can either display folders or thunbnails of scanned documents which you can open by the usual double click.
The main additions to this window are the two easy to use TOOL BARS. The top tool bar the input functions(Scan,Copy,Fax,search ect)while the bottom tool bar the output or Send To shortcuts. These were all set up by the program during installations and additional applications can be added using the wizzard supplied. You simply scan in your document using the intergrated scan facility then drag and drop into a program, it is automatically converted into the applications format if it is supported. It also includes Optical Character Recognition which allows you to scan in a letter and then edit it in word say. There is a photo manipulation program which is a bit basic but quite useful. The main manufacturers review covers the contents and technical details.
Overall it is a well put together package that links your scanner to other applications. Once you have mastered the inbox you will actually be using your scanner for the first time . The user guide explains things well and although the term 'PRO ' is used I think it is more of a 'home office ' version.
