Perfect! May 10, 2008 G. G. Saunders (West Sussex .UK) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Nicely , is an old album that I turn to when my rock collection does`nt quite fit the bill. my first Lindisfarne album `fog on the tyne` comes out now and again but since I got `Nicely` remastered it is perfect to listen to or even dare I say to have tinkling away in the back ground you cant go wrong if its in your collection. who are they like? hard to slot into any category folk rock geordie style. Alan Hull`s a English Dylan/Neil Young type writer.
It stands the test of time October 7, 2004 Brian (Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear United Kingdom) 35 out of 35 found this review helpful
First released in 1970 and now remastered "Nicely out of Tune" is still the strongest release from the fab five. Classics such as Lady Eleanor, Clear White Light, We can swing Together and Winter Song (described by Elvis Costello as the greatest song ever written) are scattered throughout the album the remaining track are by no means fillers as a number of the other tracks could have just as easily been released as singles at the time. There is not a weak track on the album, the harmonies are wonderful and the acoustic guitar haunting on such tracks as Winter song and Lady Eleanor. Knacker Yard Blues and Nothing but the marvellous also appear (they were originally the b-sides of Clear White Light and Lady Eleanor respectively and didn't appear on the album on its original release) as an added bonus to complete a wonderful trip back in time. The only fault is with 'Down' which originally had a lovely crackly scratchy intro which someone in their wisdom has cleaned up and take away the charm from that track but I think we can forgive the engineer that one. Although almost 35 years old Nicely out of Tune still sounds fresh and original and is a must for any fan of good music and a great way to discover Lindisfarne again.
