Cheap, Reliable, Casio Practicality March 29, 2008 Mr. G. Cruickshanks 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I have a super expensive Swiss IWC watch with great sentimental value, I love it. Its worth so much to me that I wont wear it when I go on holiday, play sports/gym, go fishing, go camping or go to a bar. Anything where I could lose it, spill beer on it, drop it in mud etc. is a no no. So, I needed a watch that I can wear whenever I don't wear my good watch.
This Casio is great. At 10.99 it is super cheap and if the battery lasts the 10 years it is supposed to then that works out at just over 2p a week. The problem that some of the cheap Casios have is that the resin strap degrades, breaks down and splits rendering the watch useless after a couple of years. This wont be a problem with this watch with the stainless steel clasp strap. In addition, it has an illuminating LCD rather than being side lit by an LED. The strap and the back lit display are well worth the extra 3 over the cheapest Casio.
The thing also looks quite reasonable. Its not the best looking watch I have ever seen, but it definitely looks as good as anything up to 50 and most up to 100. Casio isnt the coolest name in the world for watches (maybe calculators) but if you are not the pretentious type then I fail to see how you can justify spending 5 times more on a watch that does the same things.
This Casio is all you need. I could have spent more, I just didn't need to. If I lose it, scratch it, kill it, I don't care for 10.99. 5 stars.
