Awesomely addictive July 17, 2008 Spicy (England, Oxfordshire) I can't begin to say how great this product is, it has so many different techniques for building up wrist strength, bicep strength, pectoral strength and the health benefits like RSI. I tried it out for so long when I got it I took a bit of skin off of my finger! but stuck a plaster on and in the first hour and a half I reached a speed of 10131.
If you stick at it when you recieve it you will easily get the technique wrist movement and will be able to start it spinning with your thumb. You get 3 starter strings so that should last you until you get the hang to using your thumb.
The noise it makes is nothing when your on your own as your dont really notice it and it is a good indictor of how fast your going when it gets more high pitched and louder (with the cool light getting brighter). When your in a room with others they'll just look at you, too facinated by the lights to tell you to naff off!
All in all its great fun and addictive and with the benefits of increasing strength/rehabilitation, you can use it anywhere while reading a book, watching TV, running etc.
Oh and its good to use the wrist string until you can get the hang of the spin because if you drop it at high speeds it WILL go through the wall!
Cool July 12, 2008 madMike (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this product a few days ago to see what all the fuss was about. It's quite fun once you become proficient at starting the ball every time. The initial attempts often result in a few stallings but now using it after a few days, the muscles in my arms seemed to have become harder. Without doubt, a purchase I am proud of!
Effective, enjoyable and worth every penny June 16, 2008 Mr. Sm Quattrone 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
On the company's website, they clearly take pride in emphasising the Powerball's addictive nature, and rightly so. There's great satisfaction to be had within minutes of using the product, as you become more proficient in your technique, admiring the miniature lights festival created inside and all the while knowing that your strength is improving.
As the proud owner of a Signature Series for several days, I've alternated between every suggested motion, often giving it a vigorous whirl and at other times a mild paced spin. I'm pleased to say that my forearms are beginning to feel much more firm and my gripping power noticeably improved such that I'm tempted to keep clenching my fists in amazement. Both the fun factor and physical benefit make a wonderful incentive to use this product as part of a long term routine.
I've gotten my family hooked into healthy competition for the highest score boasted on the LCD display. All that remains is to show the Powerball to my cat (she has a thing for luminous objects).
I'm worn out already! June 13, 2008 Pete V (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well done (yet again) Amazon. Another speedy delivery (Royal Mail) my Powerball arrived at 1120 13/6/08. By 1200 I'd opened the box, given it a whirl and discovered just how unfit I am! I see what they mean about "Not to be used by people with heart trouble". I'm sat here wondering if I need an ambulance or not. I haven't seen a doctor for years...maybe I should?! I'm surprised as this is more tiring than you may imagine. An upper body/arm workout in one little ball. Get one - you'll be surprised. Don't give up if you don't master it immediately. There's written instructions as well as a mini CD/DVD included, a wrist strap (advisable), and 2 cord pulls (to start it off).
P.S. 1500: Disappointed as 1 of the 2 cord pulls has lost it's tipped end already (a few hours use, and maximum of 50 "pulls").
14/6/08 : Still finding it difficult to get started. There is an (expensive) accessory that's supposed to do away with the cords, and to be honest the cords are a definite weakness. I've contacted NSD and they are going to send me another 1 or 2 - no expense spared!!! They can't cost more than 1p for a hundred!
16/6/08:I've had an email to say ONE replacement cord is in the post! Can't see that lasting long. I'd have thought they could have come up with an alternative that lasts longer than a few hours?
19/6/08: A big padded envelope on the doomat....2 replacement cords arrived. Why they only sent 2 instead of 20 or so, I don't know? Not that I don't appreciate getting them, but 2...! The postage & packing must have cost about 100 times what the 2 cords did. I can't understand why they only put 2 cords in with this Power Ball in the first place. There must be a LOT of profit on these balls so why don't they supply 50 cords? I suspect they want you to give up using the cords and buy the starting dock which they sell. Call me cynical I don't care! ;)
Good toy June 8, 2008 Monkey Magic (England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this just as a 'toy' to show/challenge my mates when they come round. This was after myself having seen another mate with one.
It did take me a while to figure out how to start it, even though I had used one before. But now its easy (with the string). I find that old people can't seem to grasp how to start it. I've seen a few low user ratings on Amazon, and I take it that this is from people who haven't mastered getting the thing going.
I can see how it can give your arms a workout, but I haven't played with it enough to really find out. I just see how fast I can make it go and then stop.
I think that its just good fun, and if it have some beneficial effect then that can't be a bad thing.
If you're getting this just as a toy then this is an ideal model as it has the flashing lights and counter.
